The ERG mode is definitely noticeable, but the sound isn’t dramatic. All that considered, it's been and continues to be an excellent addition to my training. I dig into the nuances of these both within the power accuracy section. Otherwise I have to move the brick wall before being able to start. Not the smoothest or quietest but this could be down to the cassette chain combo I am using. Hi, 15w is a tough bit high. Customer service sent a replacement out straight away no problems, no questions, got here within 2 weeks and I was up and going again with a 30 minute fix and re-calibration. When the trainer is unplugged, the brake is automatically set to a minimum percent gradient (say, between 0 and 1) for you to train without electricity, but you can actually choose any resistance you wish by unplugging the trainer while you’re still in the training session. It's been great value and has been very reliable. So, I’ll just find the gearing that sounds clean, and do the workout in that gear. But wait, are you a female and feel like these things might not apply to you? The installation was simple. I hope that the unit proves reliable over the long term and I think it will be as it seems well built. Proposé à 849,95 €, il propose une puissance maximale de 2 300 W. Elite customer support is quick to send a spare belt, though. Very happy that I made this purchase. The first turbo I received got jammed in first week, think the belt had not been put on properly / come off in transit; but the Elite customer care were great in helping replace it (where the retailer were terrible!). Yeah, something is clearly wrong there, but it’s not super clear what is wrong. Easy setup Well-built Helpful support Portable/storable Quiet Budget-friendly. Here's the thing, some people like front wheel blocks, some don't. No problem, the product comparison data is constantly updated with new products and new features added to old products! That said, the one thing that max gradient tends to underpin though is lower/slower speed ascents of heavier riders with steeper gradients. Home trainers Elite Direto and Tacx Flux are part of this second category. Not at your expense, but simply because I never thought of it that way – but, in 2020 it makes sense. It doesn’t matter what app is controlling the trainer, it needs to be in ERG mode. That made it nice and stable: And as for the power cord, it’s got a small trip prevention sorta thing there you’ll twist it through. I would definitely buy this trainer again, or a newer model from Elite. I've noticed I can mitigate this problem if I stop or slow down my pedaling about 5 seconds before the high intensity interval. Some saying I should use two spacers. The Direto specs say that it can simulate up to 14% gradients, but I tended to not feel any difference in the gradient from about 10% upwards. Instead, what matters is actually a harder metric to make clear – which is the ability to simulate high grades and lower speeds (especially if you’re a heavier cyclist). Based on my testing, even a small amount can lead to improved comfort while seated. But, if you want it, it’s listed under ‘Power Smoothing’, where you then pair it up to an external power meter. One of the most popular trainer fans out there, rivaling the Wahoo Headwind fan in strength but at a fraction of the price. Once paired up with the virtual paradise that is Zwift, the Direto proved to be as compatible as advertised. I don't think it's a current model. Even the 11s MTB Shimano cassettes are actually set to fit on the 10s Shimano spacing. ANT+ however works like a charm, no problems there. Good value, fun to ride from Andreas_K October 13, 2020 I own this trainer for 18 months and logged around 3.000 Km with it. It is generally very quiet but does sometimes make a decent amount of noise at high speeds. See — link to zwiftinsider.com. Rides well, not too bad on the noise front. So for that, we need to actually look at the overlay from TrainerRoad showing when it sent the command followed by when the Direto XR achieved that level. Anyway, after calibrating with the app again, it works better. Customer service sent a replacement out straight away no problems, no questions, got here within 2 weeks and I was up and going again with a 30 minute fix and re-calibration. Once you get to 37kmh just keep increasing speed up to 55-57kmh. – It effectively gives you a massive cassette, which makes it *easier*, since it’s a fake cassette that doesn’t exist in real life, effectively flattening the hill. Easy set-up (provided you have the right cassette), but the calibration using Elite's myETraining app was a bit confusing (make sure you check out the instructional videos on their YouTube channel). The included cassette isn’t a deal breaker as I’ll be using my 10-speed bike on the trainer and will need to buy a cassette whichever trainer I get! You can send the workout to the garmin device (edge or probably the watch can do it too) and follow it from there. If you draft behind another rider, with the same gradient and same power, cadence and gear – your virtual speed will increase. Elite service is brilliant Hi Alan, I’ve been using a media loaner Direto XR for a few weeks now on a number of workouts, including Zwift and TrainerRoad, putting it to the test to see how it handles everything from shorter rides to longer ones – including climbing Mont Ventoux in Zwift. Elite: Fingers crossed it should be September 2020 … apologies for the delay …. You’ll see the trainer enumerated in a fairly similar manner on TrainerRoad as well: Also, TrainerRoad’s tips page on using smart trainers in ERG mode (which interestingly thinks this trainer is the Elite Real E-Motion B+): I’d *strongly* recommend you either read that page, or just simply do two things: A) Calibrate the Direto XR: I did it once upon initial setup, but never calibrated again. Narrator: Now we watch as AW change the difficulty setting from Mawds September 8, 2020 Nearly 2 years since I purchased my direto. The plug can be a bit niggly to get in/out & the cord is short so need an extension which adds to the items. I would not have finished without giving myself extra gearing by dialing it down. DC Rainmaker & others have written well about this, so do some searching. I had some issues though, initially the trainer felt like the belt was sliding especially on steeper climbs which was annoying. Now It can be used only in “sim mode” due a hidden damage caused by the courier. I wouldn’t mind slightly less noise and faster ERG but e.g. It almost looks like ERG mode isn’t even enabled on the app. Looking forward to any development about en eventual firmware update for older Diretos! And H3? A second question right now I pedaled faster and the calibration through zwift worked. C. Rear tyre slippage (or better said the lack of slippage): direct-drive trainers don’t slip during sprints or at high power levels with low RPMs. PRO: My new smart trainer elite XR trainer and the question about the measurements estimates left / right power with the single rate of 9 euros. Easy setup Accurate power Quiet, Good home trainer, I was really satisfied, precise, quiet, easy for assembling Frankly, it was spot-on, and so I wasn’t about to dork with it again. For chainrings, I used 36/19 and a cadence of 90. The first turbo I received got jammed in first week, think the belt had not been put on properly / come off in transit; but the Elite customer care were great in helping replace it (where the retailer were terrible!). Here’s the levels being sent (the blue blocks)) by TrainerRoad (in this case via Bluetooth Smart on iPad) and how quickly the Direto XR responded to it: In general, when it comes to ERG mode ‘accuracy’, I’m actually looking at three specific things: A) Base power accuracy: Is the power measurement aspect correct? Easy to set up and fold away, easy to connect (quite instantaneously), smooth running, quite realistic in terms of feel and accurate power numbers. Just enthusiasm? That “9EUR ONE-TIME FEE” as mentioned in the table seems a bit silly.. Couldn’t they just have added that amount to the cost of the unit itself? This desk is both a knock-off of the original KICKR Desk, but yet also better than it. I am a 65kg male with an FTP of around 200, and a sprint of around 800 watts. All it does is stop sweat for getting places it shouldn't (it also helps with vibrations too). I updated to firmware 073 prior to making this test. The pros would only be just a bit beyond that. Regardly, Andrea. Thank you. Elite never released any firmware update for the first Direto since it was more or less bug-free. Tacx alluded to some of this in their Flux 2 series, and I included some charts showing it. (Did try with bluetooth but didn't work well with Zwift in this set up). 1 snapped belt the only problem during this time. Yeah, I don’t think Elite would disagree on max grade being about marketing. Where it can matter though is at low-speed high wattage climbs up those 12% or beyond ascents. Plan Your Full Season. In terms of portability, I brought it along on many holidays and have not experienced any issues. Slower to respond to power changes in ERG mode and to short slopes in Zwift The power measurement is very accurate and pretty much matches my power pedals readings. ... Buy now: Elite Direto OTS 2 Percent from Halfords for £499. I’ll try again later when I have time to warm it up. Wish them (Elite) good luck as they need to improve this. Tks, Hi Andrei, Regarding your cassette, the derailleur will be somehow misaligned while using the standard cassette on the Direto XR. You’ll have to forgive me, as I’m currently laughing. All in all, i would buy this trainer again, and from the reviews i've seen/read about the newer model, the reaction time has been much improved. I lost my first belt at 7,000 km and have since ridden about a similar amount with the second belt. Elite's own software is functional but not particularly exciting - and I never renewed the paid for subscription after the year trial that was included as Zwift just fit me better and more fun. I don't have the legs for short sprints and high power efforts, but it's dealt admirably with my 100 kg weight and ~300 (+/-50) W riding. My fan is 10 times louder than the trainer. – Integrated Power Meter (OTS), with accuracy claim of +/- 1.5% Kinda like Google Translate. Thank for your reviews there always so complete. If I’m going to spend that kind of money I’d rather do it on a quieter trainer that has bang-on snap-to ERG mode changes. So I had some time to recalibrate and I noticed the My E-Training app was different. But longer rides, especially ones at lower power levels can lead to saddle pains that are often addressed with rocker plates and the like. Elite says: "The Elite DIRETO XR is the home trainer you were looking for your indoor training this season. No regrets, Happy boy with 1st gen Elite Direto from Faven September 29, 2020 I got my Elite Directo in January 2019 and after more than a 1 year it's been a reliable and durable direct drive smart trainer. The Elite my ETraining app can be used to adjust some things on the trainer like power smoothing. And I spend most of my time in TrainerRoad while watching either BikeTheWorld YouTube videos or Zwift. Of course, if you go to 0%, then you potentially swing too far the other way. I ended up having to move it out of the way. No direct drive trainer is cheap, but relative to other DD smart trainers, I really think you get the bang for your buck. It’s as simple as that. Plan on using it mainly on Zwift and TR. B) Put correct axle adapters on sides, add skewer The only time ERG struggles a bit is with short intervals of less than 30 seconds at high power, particularly with short rests and I often miss the rest stars in the really short rests as it never gets back down before the next interval starts - this doesn't trouble me much as I train for long distance triathlons and not any sprinting. I will change the cassette if it create to much of a problem. I arrived very well to put the bike on the trainer but impossible to connect the trainer via bluetooth or ANT+ (i bought the ant+ dongle) to any of my devices (iphone8/Ipadpro/surfacepro) So sad and almost desperate can anybody help me? Hi Pvl, I’ve had that thing siting in a box since last fall waiting for the Tuo…finally found a use for it! Said differently: Peak numbers in this competition don’t matter. - Solid build. Will you test our product before release? I bought the original trainer new (at a bargain), when it came out 2017. Neither Elite or Zwift seem able to help me. I’d have thought they’d have fitted/included a cadence sensor to use the Elite app pedaling analysis. Direto XR Moment of Inertia = 19930 kgxmm2 Packs away well & easy to calibrate whenever it does show a discrepancy on power/output which happens occasionally. No response whatsoever. I don’t think there’s a single one that’s fine. I checked with Elite on this, and they’re going to start doing some testing to see if it’s possible to update the Direto X firmware with the new algorithm. Good. After two years of use (riding 3 times a week / one hour average / 200 Watts average) it is still very solid and quiet. – New ERG mode algorithm with increased responsiveness/stability I wouldn’t worry about the noise. Easy setup Accurate power Realistic inertiaWell-built Quiet Budget-friendly. Should I just start pedalling before starting the video?
